SPELLINC, an inter school spelling competition, was held at Sangeet Kalamandir. SPELLINC which has entered its 10th consecutive year is an annual event that tests the English vocabulary skills of school children of standard VIII to X from over 150 schools in West Bengal.
The SPEL LINC contest over the years has gained immense popularity amongst students and has grown in stature with increased participation. This year more than 150 schools participated to compete in the test of vocabulary
Over the last few months, preliminary competitions were held in each of the 150 schools across the state and 3 finalists from each school were selected to represent their schools in the grand finale. Around 450 students from these schools gathered at Kala Mandir for the SPELLINC 2008 contest, to vie for the winner’s trophy and other attractive gift hampers and certificates.
Mr. Deepak Jalan, Managing Director, Linc Pen & Plastics Ltd was present on the occasion to give away the awards. Mr. Jalan said on the occasion, “SPEL LINC is a one of its kind event, where so many schools participate on one platform and the students get an opportunity to put their knowledge & skills to test. We are really proud to be able to organize such an event every year and hope more and more students can participate in the years to come.”
The competition which has seen participation of about 1,70,000 participants over the years has received overwhelming response not only from the participants but also from various school heads. |
